How to create a nourishing morning routine

As we begin a new day, it’s important to remember that the first few moments of our morning can set the tone for the entire day ahead. 

Following a nourishing morning routine is the perfect way to start on a positive and uplifting note, giving you the energy you need to be more focused, energised and productive.

  • Wake up mindfully: Start your day by being present in the moment. Take a few deep breaths and gently stretch your body before getting out of bed. Try to wake up 15-30 minutes earlier than your usual time, and gradually increase it until you find your sweet spot.

  • Hydrate and nourish: The first thing you should do upon waking is to hydrate your body. Start your day with a glass of warm water with lemon to help alkalise your body. Follow it up with a nourishing breakfast rich in protein, healthy fats and complex carbs to provide you with sustained energy throughout the day.

  • Move your body: Incorporate around 20-30 minutes of movement into your morning routine. Find something you enjoy, whether it’s yoga, a jog or a walk around the block. It can be different on various days!. This helps to boost circulation, release endorphins, and get your whole system powered up for the day ahead. 

  • Engage your mind: Brain food! You can do this by practising gratitude, meditating, journaling, or reading an inspiring book. Just a few minutes a day dedicated to sitting quietly and focusing on your breath can really help to cultivate a sense of inner peace. 

  • Set your intentions: Take a few minutes to write down your intentions for the day ahead. This could be a simple affirmation, organising your priorities or a specific goal you want to accomplish, or even just a reminder to stay present and mindful.
